Have you ever set a goal or a new years resolution and then done the exact opposite. Or maybe you set a goal and then procrastinate every day and never take action on it. Or do you find yourself beating yourself up because you want to work on the goal, but something is holding you back, causing a feeling of resistance, but you just can’t quite put your finger on it?
When any of those situations occur, it can leave you feeling unmotivated unworthy, and you may even label yourself lazy.
It’s not you; It’s your filters!
From the day you were born, you set up your unique filtering mechanism that defines how you perceive the world around you. Every event, situation, and experience shaped your identity, and then you project back onto the world through your individualised perception of what you believe to be true – your belief system.
Ultimately your filters will allow you to proceed with a set goal, or you will sabotage the goal, do the exact opposite, procrastinate or get anxious because you are feeling unknown resistance.
This resistance occurs because your new goal doesn’t pass the filter check and stops you from chasing that particular goal.
The problem is that the filters we had created when we were younger may not serve us when it comes to setting, believing in, and reaching our goals because we see the world through the filtered experiences that shaped us up until this moment.
You have to elevate the importance of the goal on a neurological level by adjusting those filters like tuning a tv on a vintage-style tv. In adjusting your internal filtering mechanism, you will adapt your decisions, actions, beliefs, and values, and as those things start to fine turn, you will feel your whole world change.
Resistance will be removed, self-sabotage will disappear, and you will start to perceive the opportunities that were always there through a refined filtering system and be able to chase that goal with great success.
Changing these filters does impact how we behave the actions that we take. So when you learn how to elevate the importance of your goal on a neurological level by fine-tuning your filtering system, you’ll see opportunity everywhere you go, and chasing any goal will become exciting and easy.
