5 surprising reasons you need to Stop & Smell the roses 🌹 for your mental health

🌹Do you get a sensory overload and just want to shut down at the end of the day?
🌹Does it always seem to be Monday morning again and feel like you are living in a perpetual state of groundhog day?
🌹Do you have to show up at work, at home, with friends and family but it makes you feel boxed in and ultimately you feel like you've lost yourself?

If you can’t find a way to get out of your head or find an outlet to just 'be' life is just going to get more difficult. 🌹

That’s why I like to remind myself to ‘stop and smell the roses’ 🌹because of the valuable benefits you get from doing it.

The expression 'stop and smell the roses' 🌹 arose (haha no pun intended) around the 1960s after it was rephrased by a golfer called Walter Hagen wrote in his autobiography

“Don't hurry. Don't worry. And be sure to smell the 🌹flowers 🌹along the way.” This passage was soon paraphrased as stop and smell the roses and took on a revised meaning - To take time to enjoy the finer or more enjoyable aspects of life, especially when one has become overworked or overly stressed.

Here are 5 surprising reasons you need to Stop & Smell the roses 🌹 for your mental health

	1. To take a step back and appreciate the smaller things in life
	2. To be in awe and wonder of all the things you take for granted each and every day that exist without any input from you - they are just simply existing
	3. The chemical compound found in soil that reduces stress
	4. To feel more in tune with the world you live in
	5. To feel inspired knowing that before this rose was a rose it had to fight the good fight to grow and flower

3 things I wish I knew about emotions before becoming an adult 🙅‍♀️

Having awareness about our emotions helps us better navigate our needs, wants, and desires. When we are aware of our emotional state we can communicate better, avoid confusion and move beyond those difficult feelings 💘

😃 Darwin first pioneered a study on emotions and expressions back in 1872, however, it wasn’t until sometime later that Researchers
began categorising and identifying our primary, secondary and negative emotions. Over the decades the classifications have changed somewhat and researchers have suggested that emotions are a complex psychological state that is made up of 3 specific components

💠 A subjective experience: what angers me, might not anger you in the same way
💠 A physiological experience and: what your body does when feeling an emotion, shaky, heart race from activating the amygdala in your brain
💠 A behavioural response: A smile, a frown, pacing, jumping for joy

Humans will experience these 3 components in a response to an event or situation that happens to us in our daily lives.

✌️ But this information only created more questions in me - It doesn't explain what an emotion is, rather what emotion does, nor does it help us when we are experiencing out-of-control emotions that end up affecting our day-to-day lives.

🤷Not feeling like you are being authentic and true to yourself? Sometimes we feel like we are just faking it through this journey called life and the result is never-ending doubt of who we actually are.

🤯 Other times it just feels like you are putting a mask on and the real person is hiding away behind this mask.

The reality is, until we can grasp the concept of our shadow self and then step inside it confidently we will never give permission for the real self to show up. 😊😊

💖 This month I will be taking you on a journey of self-discovery in a process that is fun, challenging, and sometimes you may even feel a bit naughty because you are finally going to give yourself permission to be truly and authentically YOU!

You see, we are taught from a very young age to put on a mask and only show the sweet side, the pleasant side, and the socially acceptable side, but what is left in the shadows is our true and authentic selves. 💖

🔶This process will help you step out from behind the shadow and own it.🔶

Now it takes time to coach you through it, which is why I’m running the upcoming free Zoom called...

# Give Yourself Permission To Be Unapologetically YOU!

⚡This is your chance to take your life to the next level by stepping into your all-powerful shadow and owning it. Whether it relates to your health, wealth, relationships, business, happiness, or any other area of your life…

👂MY EARBUDS HAVE BEEN BUSY. Lately, I've been binge-listening to an audible book called Life Lessons From A Neurosurgeon by Dr. Rahul Jandial 🧠

Here is one of the biggest takeaways so far... ⚡

🧠 95% of your brain is made up of subconscious processing - we only reserve about 5% for our conscious processing

👉What this means to me on a mindset and mental health level is that we are not only running automatic behaviours in the backgrounds of our minds that serve us,

⚡ but also unhelpful automatic belief systems that have been implanted within us from the day we were born to today via the experiences we have had throughout our life.

When we get older and into adulthood, we start to question why the same things keep happening in our lives and sometimes we notice patterns of toxic relationships, bad habits, negative self-talk, self-sabotage, poor nutrition, and the list goes on. 👈

This is the result of our neural networks that have become so insulated and so strong that when we try to challenge those unhealthy beliefs our brain releases the perfect cocktail of neuro-chemicals into our system to shut us down so the automatic processing can continue. ⚡

🤯 This leaves us in a difficult position and what feels like a tricky cycle

But there is a way… you can learn how to boost the brain's ability to rewire itself by creating healthy neural connections that oppose those unhelpful neural pathways.

📮 DM me for more info if you would like to find out how to break the cycle of these unhelpful thought patterns

At the end of the day, the brain won't rewire itself! 🧠

Psst. Hey you! Just stopping your scroll for a sec in order to share this special message from my brain to yours ⭐

I don't like the word diet.. well, I don't like what we a society have manipulated this word to mean..

⭐ The word 'Diet' originally comes from the greek word 'Dieta' meaning Lifestyle.

This tells us that the word diet - just doesn't relate to what food you put in your mouth.

It also relates to every other area of your life - Dieta is a balanced lifestyle in all 7 areas of life for optimal mental health.

Dr John Demartini breaks them down into these 7 areas (not in any particular order of importance)
🌿1. Social
🌿2. Vocation
🌿3. Spiritual
🌿4. Physical
🌿5. Family
🌿6. Mental
🌿7. Financial

However, I know you came to this post to get an answer surrounding food choices. So, let me first say there is no food diet that is perfect for everyone. We all come with our own unique preferences, allergies, sensitivities, and intolerances.

Although the research shows that the 'Western diet' is one of the worst that is impacting our mental health. My advice is rather than try the next fad 'diet' or removing categories of food - start by adding more vegetables, salads, and spices to what you are already eating.

🦠We need to re-educate our bodies and introduce more nutritional compounds, but taking away foods our bodies are already consuming will cause a whole set of neurochemicals to run rampant in your mind and gut (this is where cravings will be activated and overeating occurs)

Start by tilting the nutritional scales in your favour.
As a neuro-nutrition coach - I would rather you go slowly in the right directions - than fast in the wrong direction. 🌸

Send me a DM if you want to improve your overall dieta

THERAPY VS COACHING VS MENTORING - WHAT'S THE DIFFERENCE?

💡If you've considered hiring a coach, you might be wondering this very question. Here are the key differences between the 3.

♦️Therapy is the process of providing emotional support to people, and providing diagnosis and treatment plans.

♦️Coaching inspires and motivates people to reach their goals. Coaching encourages people to develop and work towards goals that can help them in all areas of their life

♦️Mentors take coaching one step further and offer professional advice, resources, and information. in areas where the mentor has evidence-based experience and knowledge

♦️Psychosocial recovery coaches also include mentoring. We either have lived or learned (or both) experiences and not only help you motivate you towards your unique goals, vision, and purpose but also source the resources you need to be able to make it all come to pass.

💡Recovery coaches are 'out of the box' thinkers, and good mentors that will have plenty of resources, advice, and information up their sleeves to help you move forward and get back on track.

I share this so that when you hire your next recovery coach, you're clear on what the dynamic will be like.

😊😊 💖 This month I will be taking you on a journey of self-discovery in a process that is fun, challenging, and sometimes you may even feel a bit naughty because you are finally going to give yourself permission to be truly and authentically YOU! You see, we are taught from a very young age to put on a mask and only show the sweet side, the pleasant side, and the socially acceptable side, but what is left in the shadows is our true and authentic selves. 💖 🔶This process will help you step out from behind the shadow and own it.🔶 Now it takes time to coach you through it, which is why I’m running the upcoming free Zoom called... # Give Yourself Permission To Be Unapologetically YOU! ⚡This is your chance to take your life to the next level by stepping into your all-powerful shadow and owning it. Whether it relates to your health, wealth, relationships, business, happiness, or any other area of your life… 📍Link is in the bio, come along so you have the opportunity to finally give yourself permission to be truly you.
